Solar Net Metering

Uttar Pradesh Solar Net Metering Consumer Guide

Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulation Commission aims to create many solar schemes to maximize the use of renewable source of energyAccording to the Draft UP Solar Power Policy-2017, the state government has also proposed to meet the target of generating 10,700 MW solar power. This includes 4,300 MW from rooftop solar projects, by financial year 2022.

Under the scheme of Net Metering the government will offer to purchase 100% electricity produced by the Grid Tie Solar Power Plants, through the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) or the distribution licensee

Solar Net Metering

Net Metering is the arrangement where the special metering and the electricity billing system that allows the solar roof-top Owners, business or individuals to sell surplus or unused electricity generated by the Solar Roof-top Power Plant, to the DISCOM. In this arrangement Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the roof-top owner and electricity distribution board (DISCOM) will be executed.

This new program is being developed to encourage small scale renewable energy system.

How Solar Net Metering Works?

Earn Money! with Net Metering. Net Metering arrangement is one the most exiting feature of Solar Power System. Through this electricity billing arrangement Solar Power System owners can Spin their meters both sides.

When your Solar Roof-top System generates more electricity which you use in day time, through the net metering arrangement the surplus solar energy is automatically exported (energy export) to the DISCOM’s distribution network (the grid) with the help of a two-way meter. If the solar energy produced is less than the total energy required in the building, then the shortfall energy is automatically supplied by the grid (energy import).

Net Metering helps to save even more money with solar energy for your home or business by paying you for your extra solar power that is generated.

New Electricity Bill With Net Metering

Under the scheme of Net Metering consumer only pays the difference of total electricity consumed and generated through Solar Power System.

If the solar power plant produces 10 kWh power in day, and business or individual consumes 6 kWh during the day time, remaining 4 kWh power get transferred to utility grid through bi-directional meter. That 4 kWh power consumer can import from grid at night time or gets credited in monthly bill.

A case for a individual or business who has a monthly electricity bill of Rs.10,000 + Fixed Charges,  installs a 10 kW Solar Power System.

Monthly Electricity Consumption                           1470 Units [kWh]

10 kW SPV System Generation in Month              1260 Units [kWh]

New Electricity Bill                                                 210 Units [kWh]

After the Net Metering arrangement total savings on Solar Power System generated electricity Rs.8,562 per month, and reduced electricity bill comes only Rs.1,428 + Fixed Charges.

Uttar Pradesh Net Metering Policy

Under the Uttar Pradesh Net Metering Policy benefits available for individual or residential consumers, industries or commercial consumers. Whether you are in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Ghaziabad or any other city/ town in Uttar Pradesh you can avail the benefit of Net-Metering. And private DISCOMs like Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PuVVNL), Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL), Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL), Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PuVVNL) and Kanpur Electricity Supply Company Limited (KESCO) are all required to support and implement net-metering in UP.

  3. We must transfer to solar Panel now as load shedding has increased so much and prices of petrol and diesel have raised so much. It's the right time to convert to solar system. In this regard I'd prefer Vbuil.pk as they are providing very reliable services regarding Solar panel installation. Here is the link https://vbuild.pk/product/180-watt-mono-perc-premium-solar-panel/
